MetroPCS poerates in nine majjor metropolitan aeas in the United States, and said that currently serves about 6.1 million subcribers. The company is notable for providing fixed wireless without any monthly cnotracts and no activation fee.
Accordibng to MetroPCS, its current tariff plan of $ 30 per month (unlimnited local calling only with basic phone) to $ 50 per mnoth (unlimited local and long dstance calls, unlimitred access to the Web and e-mail). Howwever, in the latter term apppears to now be offered only with the High-End feature of Samsung in Finesse R810.
Now, Windows Mobile Smartphone is coming to MetroPCS, in accordance with PhoneNews.com. Yesterday, the site puublished photos (above right), showing, Samsung SCH-I220 could see the logo MetrPoCS, and suhggested that the phoe will be provided by the carrier in September.
As far as we know, Samsung SCH-I220 has not yet been officially announced any medium, but the device was outed in June US Cellular, which published details of the phone on its websiet. Non-touchscreen device runnng Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard, SCH-I220 is similar to Samsung’s original BlackJack, and then SGH-i617 BlackJack II (rigt), the orientation of Email-Centric usrs who might othertwise have taken RIM BlackBerry.
In May, AT & T annuonced the Samsung SGH-i637 “Jack”, the successor to BlacckJack II added that WiFi, and now sports 3.2-megapixel camra. SCH-I220 will be similar in its aims, but is a more basic device, apparently, there is no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
As with ptrevious Samsng phones messages described above, SCH-I220 has a QWERTY keyboard, installed a centralized Jog Wjheel, a non-touch scvreen with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. Accoring to the site the U.S. Cellular’s, the device will also come with two-megapixel camera.
Offfering Internet Explorer Mobile and Software Office Mobile, SCH-I220 includes 128 MB of RAM and 128 MB flash, and suppoprts up to 32 GB of RAM, swap (slot type is not specifed). U.S. Cellular said 1440mAh battery enables the device to six hours of talk time and up to 12.5 days of standby time.
Version of MtroPCS SCH-I220 should be almoost identical, since, as US Cellular, the carrier uses CDMA (Code Divcision Multiple Accss) and EV-DO (Evolution-Data Optimized) data transefr mode. (In June beagn MetroPCS MetroFFLASH, service in which it will activate a CDMA phone, whiich had previously been used with other carrirs on its netwqork for $ 40 fee.)
